Iranian young photographer Ahmad Khatiri has succeeded to bring home the plate of honor and gold medal of the event for his work ‘Alone’ which depicts a boy clad in a military uniform among a number of Iranian servicemen.
‘Alone’ is the winner of the GPU White Ribbon J1 - FIAP blue ribbon J3 at the Vernon-Normandy Photograph Exhibition in France.
“During the previous years, we have seen the powerful presence of Iranian artists including Iranian photographers in reputable and major world festivals, which shows Iranians have remarkable talents that are recognized at international scenes,” said Khatiri in his interview with IRNA.
Khatiri, who is also a member of the International Photography Federation FEIAP, was placed 1st in overall ranking among 106 photographers worldwide.
Ali Kianjam is another Iranian winner of the contest, who was honored for his photo ‘Circle of Life’ showing some farmers who are chasing birds away from their field.
‘Harmony in Mourning’ by Davoud Izadpanah also won an award. His photo depicts a large group of Iranian Shia Muslims engaged in the Muharram mourning rituals.
‘Colored’ by Omidreza Pournabi was also among the winners. The photo shows an Iranian artisan working in his workshop.
Winners were chosen by a jury of eight photographers and experts headed by Takeyoshi Tanuma.
Some 9,404 photographs from 56 countries sent their photos to the 2022 edition of the Japanese photo contest, out of which 106 were selected.
Organized by the Asahi Shimbun and the All-Japan Association of Photographic Societies, the International Photographic Salon is one of the greatest and oldest photo contests in the world.
It was launched in 1927 with the participation of photographers from 15 countries outside of Japan.
The event publishes the world’s 2nd highest published daily; and it is held simultaneously in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and other major Japanese cities.
